    Total chlorine refers to the sum of free chlorine and combined chlorine in the water. Free chlorine is chlorine that is not bound to organic or inorganic substances, usually in the form of free chlorine, such as chlorine gas or hypochlorite ions. Combined chlorine refers to compounds formed by combining chlorine with organic or inorganic substances, such as chloramine compounds.


    Disinfection water quality control: Chloride is one of the most commonly used water treatment disinfectants. It is used to kill microorganisms in water and ensure the health and safety of drinking water and swimming pool water. Therefore, understanding the total chlorine content in water is the key to ensuring disinfection effectiveness.


    Water quality safety monitoring: Total chlorine content is an indicator of water quality safety. Too high or too low total chlorine content may cause water quality problems. For example, too high a content may produce odor and taste, or even harmful substances, while too low a content may not be enough to kill pathogenic microorganisms in the water.


    Environmental protection: Monitoring total chlorine content helps to understand the discharge of chloride in water bodies and prevent excessive chloride discharge from affecting the aquatic ecosystem.


    Regular measurement of total chlorine levels is critical to maintaining water safety, protecting public health, and protecting the environment.
